After seeing these results I will analyse them (you can see all the exact stats if you click on and view the results):
1.Most peoples favourite genre of music is Rock, second was pop and third was folk, these are the main genres I shall show in my music magazine to gain a wide readership.
2.The majority of the people that took the survey were 16-21 years old so I will be aiming at a young target audience.
3. There was basically an equal amount of people who dress up and look rock, indie or mainly wear designer clothes, whilst the majority chose "other" and said they dress normal or have their own style. Therefore the style I shall go for in the magazine will accompany each of these styles.
4. In this question the vast majority of people who answered this question would prefer a black, white and red simplistic theme. Second was blue, red and white (typical British colours) which will also play a part in the magazine to keep a simple and typically British feel to it.
5. Most of the people that took this question said that the main thing that would attract them to the Magazine on a front cover, would be the picture. So I am going to have to be very experimental with the front cover image to make it eye-catching and appealing to the young and musically influenced target audience.
6. In this question I asked what people would want to read in a double page spread. The majority voted for a Q&A with a band/artist. So what I am going to do is get people to send questions in that they want to ask a band or solo artist and then show this in the double page spread with the answers.
7. In this question the majority of people voted for easy to find page references with lots of images. This is because it will make it lively and not only enjoyable to look at, but people will also be able to easily find the pages and content they want to read. Therefore I will be looking to have a lot of images and page references for articles.
8. When I asked if people like to see a running theme throughout a magazine it was clear that people like to see a running theme so they can associate different articles and pages with the same magazine, therefor I will used the same range of colours and fonts depending on the pages.
9. Lastly I asked what people mostly like to read about in a music magazine. I got answers such as gig reviews, album reviews, interview with bands, articles, agony aunt pages and embarrassing moments pages. Now I know what sort of thing to put on the contents page as well as in the double page spread as I know what the target audience want to read inside a magazine.
Now that I have analysed each question I need to create a reader profile of things that the ideal target audience should like and be interested in. I put together a Visual Reader Profile which you can see here:
Now, I need to start planning my ideas for my magazine, things such as the Title, Slogan, House Style etc.
